 2022 Preview

Chilton County finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Chilton County finished seventh in Class 6A region three with a 0-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Chilton County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.0 points a game.

The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, Chilton County has gone a combined 47-78. Their 37.6% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 6A over the past twelve seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Chilton County has managed to compile a record of 99-162. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 6A and 303rd in the AHSAA.

The Tigers will be under the direction of new head football coach Marvin Morton as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Morton was the defensive coordinator at Chilton County last season.

Coach Morton's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 5-6 (45.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Morton's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

The Chilton County Tigers will play in Class 6A region three during the 2022 season.

It will be an uphill battle for the Tigers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region three this season.

The Tigers open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Bibb County on Friday, August 19 at Choctaw Stadium. Last year the Bibb County Choctaws finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in second place in Class 4A region three. The Choctaws lost in the second round of the Class 4A playoffs to Handley by a score of 28-14.

Chilton County and Bibb County have met a total of 74 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 34-37-3 record against the Choctaws. They last met in 2019 with Bibb County winning by a score of 42-6.
